My lyrics are dark because my reality has been dark. My sound stays in the light. I want people to know that the light is always attainable."

Danielle Ponder transcends musical genres with a blast of deep, powerful soul. And according to Ponder, soul is more than a sound. “Soul music is something you feel,” she says. “It gives you goose bumps.”

The result of her focus and dedication is a tone that is both enchanting and seductive along with a riveting, honest stage presence. It is this voice that has helped her secure gigs opening up for powerhouses such as George Clinton, Ledisi and The Roots.  She has also completed two successful European tours. Boyd Kletter of Bourbon Street Blues Club in Amsterdam said "Danielle shines bright both on and off the stage. She truly is a star!"

Beyond Danielle's musical talent, she was also a public defender who worked at the Monroe County Public Defender’s office.  A native of New York she is also a Professor in the Department of African American studies at SUNY Brockport, where she teaches Legal Rights of the Disadvantaged.

Danielle has dedicated the past 15 years to organizing and speaking up for marginalized communities. She has worked on issues such as education funding, women's rights, and has spent the past 8 years working for criminal justice reform. In 2017 she created the Multi-Media show For the Love of Justice, where she shines light on our criminal justice system through powerful lyrics and thought provoking visuals.

KAYLA DIAMOND

RECORDING ARTIST, SONGWRITER

The Toronto born and bred pop singer just released of her EP, Dirty Laundry. A dark pop record that hums and buzzes as it propels one to dance. “My last album was more upbeat pop, more major chords. This one is more attitude. Kind of like "I miss you, but fuck you,” Diamond says with a laugh.

Diamond only recently started her professional music career...she was in law school, studying to become a personal injury or family lawyer. There was no linear path connecting the two. She went to the dean’s office straightaway, explaining her plight, wondering what path she should take.

“What I said was, “I got signed to a record label and I am really interested in doing this. The dean said, Go do this and if it doesn’t work out, come back to law school or do something law related.’”

Since then, Diamond’s “What You’re Made Of” and “Carnival Hearts” have racked up an impressive engagement with her audience. “What You’re Made Of” has appeared on massive Spotify playlists like New Music Now, Pop All Day, New Music Friday Canada, and Contemporary Blend, while “Carnival Hearts” has over 3M plays on Spotify and almost 1M on Apple Music. “Carnival Hearts” has been featured on Spotify’s playlists Pop All Day, Its A Bop, and New Music Friday Canada.

Diamond’s pop music is compelling because she’s willing to share her real life with her fans in an authentic and honest way, “My songwriting stemmed from the realization that I was more into women than I was into men,” says Diamond. For Dirty Laundry, Diamond again pulled directly from her life’s experiences. “A year ago, I went through a really tumultuous relationship. I dated this girl for a year and a half, and she completely manipulated my brain into thinking I am not who I think I am. She brought out probably the worst sides of me. And I wasn’t myself,” she says.

What Dirty Laundry has are buoyant pop hits that serve to mean something more; to be something more. Pop music’s greatest trick is making floor-thumping bangers that are secretly about the most heart-aching human experiences. Dirty Laundry is a pop Trojan Horse. Come for the hits, stay for the revelations!

SOL ESCOBAR

SINGER/SONGWRITER, COMPOSER, PRODUCER

After a career as singer and musical theatre actress, mainly in Colombia, Sol Escobar makes a great leap in her international career as singer songwriter, composer and music producer with La Dama Oscura, an album all written and directed by her.

As in a film by David Lynch, Tarantino or Wong Kar Wai, her new work tells stories about vampire love, betrayed ghosts, disaffection and disenchantment of other lives that cross through space and time. The music transports us to a desert inhabited by cowboys, to castles in northern Europe or to the canteens of Buenos Aires, Mexico or Paris.

The theatricality of tango, the epic depth of popular music and the dramatic tone of the ranchera, come together to unite stories around a very personal and unique alter ego: La Dama Oscura (The Dark Lady).

An album set of 7 original songs that show the vocal potential of this singer and her marked talent for the composition of boleros, rancheras and modern tangos. Sol directs the musical production towards a very personal concept and the union of different styles in one, his own, fresh and elegant. In their songs we can hear a ranchera melody, followed by a surf guitar; a powerful chorus of lyrical voices, followed by a bartender piano; tango becomes blues, bolero becomes rock and Latin arrangements becomes Nordic folk music.
